Lions provide aid for New Zealand Earthquake Disaster at Christchurch

As you will no doubt know, much of the city is still without water and sewerage systems, and the aftershocks continue. Thousands have been left homeless as a result of the destruction. The Lions Club International Foundation is providing $110,000 to help active Lions on-site provide relief to their communities. The Vale of Belvoir Lions has made a donation of £250.00 to this fund. Collectively, around the globe, all Lions clubs are making contributions, which allow the LCIF to provide much larger and much needed funds.

Rwanda Bicycle Amnesty - Update

It is always nice to get an update on progress of a cause that the Lions have contributed towards. Last year the VOB Lions collected 100 bikes to be sent out to to a boys centre in Rwanda. Only 40 bikes actually made the trip this time around due to lack of space on the container, however they were well received never the less.

Help Dan!

The Vale of Belvoir Lions have been asked by the parents of a very sick little boy, who has a rare eating disorder. Daniel does not eat or drink anything. He suffered from acid reflux as a child and for this reason he refuses all fluid and food, we cannot even brush Daniel's teeth. He is fed via a Mic-Key button, which is inserted in his stomach. As well as the acid reflux Daniel also has an Autistic Spectrum disorder, of which there is no cure.

The Lions are making a donation to help send Dan to Austria for pioneering surgery which has a 90% success rate with this disorder.
