Annual Vale of Belvoir Lions Music Quiz
Venue: Bottesford VC Hall 26th March 2011
It was the time of year already for the Annual Vale of Belvoir Lions MusicQuiz! Seems like only yesterday since last years. The chosen charity was Nottingham's Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre.
70 people spread over 12 teams entered the quiz this year, hotly awaiting the questions ahead. Quizmaster Lion Richard had prepared 12 rounds of music trivia, covering the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, naughties, music from shows, film themes, pot luck, rock ballads, country music, take a chance and a picture round.
The rounds were a mix of 'name that tune', straight forward questions, to identifying artists by pictures only. It is fair to say that Lion Richard did a great job of putting all the material together.
The quiz progressed with Lion Steve as score master. At half time an interval was called, where everyone attending was served either homemade Lasagne or hot Chilli and rice, followed by apple pie and cream. The food was kindly prepared and supplied by Lions and partners, and served on the evening by Lions Warren, Kevin, David and Ian. Big thanks to them for their efforts in delivering a great supper to all. There was also the usual bar for refreshments provided by Lion Mark. A raffle was held to raise further funds, with a few 'fun prizes'.
The quiz resumed afterwards, with some highly competitive scores being racked up! The winning team, 'West End Ziggy' scored an impressive 200 points, and for their efforts were awarded a case of 6 wines.
The evening was a success, £568 being raised for The MS Therapy Centre, and good fun at the same time. Looking forward to next years...
