Bonfire and Firework Display
Venue: The Paddocks, Bottesford 5th November 2010

The Lions worked as hard as ever this year, to make the annual bonfire and firework display more spectacular than last years.

The bonfire building commenced on October 30th, with skip loads of donated timber! A dozen or more volunteers turned out for the building of the fire, which soon turned into a huge wigwam of timber ready for Friday the 5th.

On the 5th, the full day was spent putting together the various stalls for food, drinks, sweets for the kids, and toys including luminous whistles and glow sticks.

Unfortunately, the days spirits were dampened a little when the dreaded rainfall started around 4pm that afternoon. Typical when the gates were opening only a few hours later.

Because of this, the format for the evening was changed, and fire was lit for when people arrived rather than after the fireworks. Despite the damp weather and with the fire acting as a beacon to all in Bottesford, the crowds still came to watch what we think was the best firework display yet! All we have to do now is beat it next year!

The event raised £1615.94 for charity, which considering the weather was a great achievement, and a testament to all those who attended.
