Venue: The Vale of Belvoir Hotel on 22nd September 2010

The Vale of Belvoir Lions, formed in 1979, welcomed four new recruits to its ranks on Wednesday 22nd September. As President, Simon Ashworth conducted the ceremony.

Lion Scott was asked to read out the Lions objectives and Lion Ian read out the code of ethics to the new member’s attendees.

Tim, Colin, Debbie and Steve were then sworn in and received their membership packs and Vale of Belvoir gold lapel pin. These were presented by the 1st Vice District Governor Ajit Singh Virdi who kindly attended the event.

After the induction, a presentation was given by Vicky, a Bottesford Guide who went on a sailing team building event, partly funded by the Lions. The event lasted 10 days and involved long hours working in all areas of the ship, including taking the sails in force 7 winds! The Lions support youth endevours and team building in the local community.

Lion Ken Palmer suffered a stroke earlier in the year, so the Lions set about fund raising for The Grantham Stroke Unit where Ken was treated. Funds were raised to purchase a new wheel chair and kitchen equipment. A short presentation was made to the Stroke Unit.

After the ceremony everyone enjoyed a buffet before the evening business meeting took place.
