Brains of Belvoir Quiz - a test of brains and grit...
Venue: Bottesford VC Hall on 17th Spetember 2010

The Brains of Belvoir quiz night this year was held at the usual venue the Bottesford VC Hall. It was attended by some 90 people making up 17 teams of 6 in each team. Spirits were high as everyone eagerly awaited the quiz to begin.

The format of the quiz was 8 quick-fire rounds of mixed categories, along with a picture round and a TV sounds round. The quiz-masters were Phil and Nigel of the Vale of Belvoir Lions, who did a great job of organising and running the evening. Thanks to them.

To say that this year was a test of brains was an understatement, with some very tough questions posed indeed! Our quiz-master Phil took a round of booing and hissing on the ‘Words’ round, but all in good humour of course!

At half-time, a ploughman’s platter prepared by the Lions Partners was distributed to each team, and refreshments throughout the evening provided by the Bull Inn. A big thank you to the Lions partners and the Bull for their efforts.

Last years winners couldn’t repeat a win this time, despite the best of endevours, with Bottesfords local drinkery team ‘The Bullies’ weighing in with 78 points!

1st Bullies 78 pts
2nd Village People 77 pts
3rd The Original 76 pts

A good evening was had by all, and it was fair to say that the event was a success with a total of just over £700.00 raised towards the Pakistan Flood Relief fund. The Vale of Belvoir Lions Club that organises and runs many events throughout the year, have donated a total of £1000.00 to the Flood relief fund.
